A 2007 team member paints an American flag at the request of a Polish boy at a Lechicka street children's outreach event.
Dr. David Summey was engaged in supportive ministry for several years with our Polish friends before he directed HIM’s short term ministry to consider how teams may be involved with them to build Christ’s kingdom. We have been blessed to continue the relationships with Wioletta Hatak, Adam and Mira Otrembra, Ryszard Paciocha and the evangelical church in Koszalin, Poland that were established then. In 2005, we took an investigative trip. In 2006, traveled with an amazing team. In 2007, returned with three God-ordained teams. We were all blessed.
As we prayed about how needs and teams might match up for 2008, we received word from Wioletta (who serves as Poland's director of Youth for Christ) that our host church was not in a position to have a team last summer. In fact, as a national leader with great understanding, she has told us how the evangelical church across Poland is hurting, and how God is directing them to scale back projects and concentrate on interpersonal discipleships. Please join us in prayer for the Church at this time.
We are now anticipating a short term missions team to Poland to assist a children's camp (for ages 6-12) through the church in Wroclaw. The camp is tentatively scheduled for July 20-25, 2009. Check back or contact Paul and Christie for more information!
