Next Generation International Fund - Ukraine is just what our name implies - outreach to Ukraine’s NEXT Generation who can make a dramatic difference for Christ in Ukraine and other regions of the former Soviet Union.

Since the fall of communism in the early 1990’s, over 80% of all evangelical churches have been planted in smaller towns and villages, while 80% of the population exist in large cities. The young population move to the cities seeking an education or a higher paying job.

In villages or small towns, an average job may pay under $50.00 per month where as, with an education, a young person in a large city may earn $300.00 per month - a very good wage in today’s Ukraine. Unfortunately, once these young people move, many discover they are unqualified for the jobs or do not find jobs at all. When their hopes are unfulfilled and their expectations unmet, some turn to alcohol, drugs, prostitution or all three. In response, the traditional Russian Orthodox Church offers condemnation, ridicule and little else. The ones that do become educated, find jobs and become monetarily successful, soon become materialistic, self-reliant and seek fulfillment in worldly desires leaving little room for God in their lives. Not unlike the United States, if the next generation is lost for Christ, instead of becoming God’s instrument of the truth and the light, Ukraine will fall into utter darkness.
Some of our Goals and Objectives in Ukraine are to:
1. Plant new contemporary evangelical churches in Ukraine’s five largest cities - beginning with twenty-five in Kiev, Ukraine’s capital city. To date, fifteen have already been planted.
2. Reach out through evangelistic campaigns such as our bicycle ministry. Dozens of young people ride hundreds of miles each year distributing Christian literature and Bibles, performing skits and dramas, witnessing in the parks and streets, chopping firewood for elderly widows, and, yes, even witnessing to unsaved Orthodox pastors who are oppressed and deceived by 70 years of darkness under communist rule. Evangelistic campaigns reach out to the needy, Ukraine’s children, the elderly and the lost church.
3. Send short-term ministry teams of youth and adults from the United States. The team members are equipped to show God’s love through medical outreach, construction of playgrounds, renovations of abandoned buildings for orphanages and through summer Bible camps and sports events for children.Yes, you can play a role in this by partnering with us by GOING or giving to a project and praying.
4. HIM Ukraine Orphanages/Drug Rehabilitation Centers
- HIM Ukraine Orphanages, currently located in the cities of Mariupol and Alexandria, provide a loving and caring Christian environment for children whose parents are deceased or who have simply abandoned them.
- Drug and Rehabilitation Centers very likely provide a last chance for those who have given up and turned to substance abuse. Most have already failed at the half-hearted attempts the State operated institutions provides. At the ARK drug and rehabilitation center, over 50% of the men and women who enter the Christian-based program are dramatically changed by receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and developing a continuing relationship with Him.
5. Training and Equipping National Pastors and Missionaries
- HIM's staff equips the national Church to be better prepared to fulfill God’s calling on their lives. This is accomplished by American staff and guest lecturers teaching in Bible colleges, seminaries and at leadership conferences and specialized seminars on topics such as Christian counseling which is something totally unheard of in this culture.
- Kremenchuk Regional Bible College (KRBC) is located in Kremenchuk, on the Napper River about four hours southeast of Kiev. KRBC is a 10-year-old Christian educational institution dedicated to the preparation of pastors for ministry in the evangelical/Baptist churches of central Ukraine and to training and sending forth missionaries, youth pastors, music and worship leaders and other Christian workers. The primary goal of KRBC is to give a practical Biblical education in which the balance between academic and practical application is supported. The basis for training in the college is conservative fundamental doctrine. HIM provides qualified teachers and pastors to teach various courses lasting one to two weeks. HIM also provides financial assistance to help pay administrative costs of the college and faculty salaries. Please contact us if you have an interest in teaching or supporting a faculty member at the college. HIM needs qualified and gifted pastors and teachers who can give 10 days to several weeks a year to stand beside us in training the trainers.
KRBC’s Curriculums include:
- Bachelor of Pastoral Ministry (four year program)
- Christian Education / Men’s and Women’s programs (four year program)
- Youth Ministry (two year program)
- Missionary Ministry (two year program)
- Bachelor of Church Music (four year program)
- Church Librarian degree (two year program)
Over 82% of KRBC’s alumni are involved in full-time ministry. Other graduates will serve as deacons or have other duties within the church. Dr. David Summey serves on the Board of Trustees for Kremenchuk Regional Bible College. Ministry opportunities abound. Contact us for more information.
6. Medical Mission teams show the love of God to Ukrainians by meeting both their physical and spiritual needs. Locals receive examinations, medicine and education as is needed as well as have the Gospel of Jesus Christ shared with them by the attending physician. Evangelistic teams minister to the locals after the doctors have returned home. Medical evangelism has proven to be a very effective way to reach Ukrainians for Jesus Christ.
