OLIVET NEWS HIGHLIGHTS 2008

Emmanuel's Land

This year Israel celebrated 60 momentous and turbulent years of independence. Our base of operations inside the West Bank has been God’s place of blessing the past eight years. It remains an outpost for the LORD’s work to the Muslim community and ministry in Israel. Together we have assisted local churches with ministry outreach and Bible camps, provided transportation with the Good News Van, conducted Chalk art evangelism, implemented charity projects and now there is the potential of planting a New Testament church in an area that is dominated by Islam. Our LORD’s promise is that the gates of hell cannot prevail against us.

The West Bank

Last summer (2007) the LORD granted the opportunity to assist Palestinian Christians with their Bible Camp. Over a hundred junior age children and young teens attended the program. Their backgrounds varied. Many were from nominal Arab churches, some from Evangelical and a few came from Muslim homes.

My responsibility was a Bible time with a different group of children four times daily. Each lesson included a chalk talk (translated into Arabic) and a hands on activity related to the lesson. The camp theme “Champions for Jesus” was developed by encouraging the children to grasp a Biblical view of history - that the Bible’s account of Creation, the entrance of sin and death, the global flood in Noah’s day and God’s plan for redemption through the Cross could be trusted completely.

A young earth emphasis with dinosaurs living along side of man reinforced the lessons presented and motivated many children to learn the memory verse for each week. The Biblical view of history was well received. Young teens were especially hungry for truth as evidenced by their many questions pertaining to life, death and future prophetic events.

After camp, ministry continued in another village. Visitation and learning center activities presented many occasions for teaching God’s Word. Your support helped to complete the final phase in renovating the home of a very needy family. The parents with five children are doing well and very appreciative.

Another blessing came after the host of our Bible Study/Prayer Fellowship suffered a severe heart attack. Your gifts helped to purchase insurance that covered 90% of his medical expenses. He underwent a successful bypass operation and recovered well. The trial prompted many prayers and crying out to God and the outcome produced much praise and glory to God.
