What is Applied Wisdom (Academics or Education?)

Applied Wisdom goes beyond the traditional textbook.  It applies knowledge with experience and the result is wisdom and life skills to enables your daughter to meet the demands and challenges of this world with good decision making and careful thought processes. Experiential learning transforms intellectual knowledge into heart knowledge.  Heart knowledge becomes Applied Wisdom. We view education as something between a child’s soul and God. Traditional education

stops at standardized testing. It was never designed to take on the education of the entire child, which includes so many other aspects of a life.  Our program is equipped to consider your daughter as a spirit to be kindled and not simply a vessel to be filled.  We will not motivate your daughter to learn through artificial stimulants such as prizes (stickers, candy or money) competition or grades.  We will encourage her to learn through admiration, faith and love.  We accomplish this everyday by providing her daily with,

  • Something or someone to love……
  • Something worthwhile to do…..
  • Something to think about…..

Changing Hearts utilizes the teachings and education philosophy of Charlotte Mason.

“A child’s mind should feed upon ideas.  Ideas must reach us directly from the mind of the thinker and it is chiefly by the means of the books they have written that we get in touch with the best minds.  The Bible and varied human readings as well as the appreciation of culture is not a luxury, a tidbit, to be given to children now and then but their very bread of life.”

To date, students having received transcripts or diplomas from Changing Hearts School have experienced no difficulty transferring to another public educational institution.  Our self-imposed high standards enable us to maintain a course of instruction relevant to the public schools throughout our state.
