HIM's CEO Curriculum Vitae David A. Summey, D.Litt.,Th.D., Ph.D., Ph.D., is a graduate of Ringling School of Art and Design (RSAD) in Sarasota, FL. During his early professional life, he was president of Interior Space Design Consults, Inc., as well as David A. Summey Design Associates - design firms specializing in interior space planning, architecture and construction. He also served as Redevelopment Board Chairman for the City of Sarasota, FL and as an adjunct professor at RSAD.

After dedicating his life to Christ in 1983, David developed a deep burden for missions. In 1987, he was led to Helps International Ministries (HIM) where he used his training as Construction Project Manager, Construction Ministry Coordinator, Planning/Design Ministry Coordinator, U.S Director and Overseas Director before becoming HIM’s Executive Director and CEO in 1992.

Dr. Summey, an ordained minister of the Gospel, completed his graduate studies through Liberty University. He holds three earned doctorates in Theology, Philosophy of Clinical/Christian Psychology and Christian Counseling from Jacksonville Theological Seminary and Cornerstone University. He also has been awarded a Doctorate in Literature from Bharat Bible College and Logos Seminary in Secunderabad, India, where he serves as adjunct professor and advisor to the President; he also serves as an adjunct professor at Kremenchug Regional Bible College in Ukraine where he also serves as a trustee of the college.  In addition to responsibilities as CEO and Chairman of Helps International Ministries, Dr. Summey maintains an active international speaking and lecture schedule, teaching in seminaries and universities around the world. He serves as a board member in several Christian organizations both in the Unites States and overseas.

Dr. Summey is a licensed clinical/pastoral counselor - advanced, a board certified clinical/Christian therapist and supervisor. He is a fellow of the National Christian Counselors Association, a member of both the American Association of Christian Counselors and the American Association of Counselors. Dr. Summey is a frequent guest on Christian radio, has been featured in Power for Living Magazine and Larry Burkett’s Money Matters. Since dedicating his life to the Lord’s service he has ministered in more than 67 countries around the world. David, age 55, his wife Teri and their three children, all home schooled, reside in Asheville, NC, where HIM’s International Headquarters is located.
